Over the past weekend I have completed a pretty sold test stand for running the 12 engines.

It is machined from 300x100x20 slab of aluminium. There is provision for both Super Silencer mounting and tuned pipes (test stand can also be used for F2A tests).

The stand will be bolted down to a Workmate with 4 off 6mm cap heads.

A good test stand is the starting point for repeatable engine testing.

The Super Silencers are part way through manufacture, I am making a few for my friends as well, the turbo cone plug head are done and all of the fixtures for modifying the cylinder porting on the milling machine are manufactured and ready for use.

Can anybody explain to me the design philosophy behind the latest sport and fast jet models? I know that an "upright" engine is not a good idea, because it’s obviously too horizontally asymmetric for the forces experienced, so the best way is to go for the side mounted tube.

But what I fail to get so far is the wing arrangement. I have to admit that I'm completely ignorant here of how these models were actually developed, and no doubt there is a very good reason for everything. Problem is, right now I just can't see it.

One thing I will no longer need is an excerpt from Model Aviation Dec. 1978, details of a jet model called Super Burp, which held various records, best speed of 211.18mph That was 42 years ago. Am I right? Not a lot seems to have happened in the last 42 years? 211.18mph is of the same order that we seem to be flying today?
