Speedcom update

New site logo banner

As part of a general revamp of this site, we have had a Speedcom logo created and this can be seen on most pages of the website.

We will have lightweight clear waterslide transfers for models shortly, and larger stickers for pit boxes etc.

Barton Club forum

We have been asked to break some unfortunate news about the famous Barton Club forum. The following is from Jim Hatch who is the webmaster for the Barton Club.

It is with great sadness I have to notify the total loss of the Barton Forums. The server host has notified of the loss of the data from the affected server. Whilst I do have a database backup from 26/12/25 and the core files all the uploaded non txt input from members such as photographs has been lost. Further on the VPS we were running on PHP5 which is now quite ancient.
We do have just over £300 in the Paypal account which I will donate to a Children’s Hospice.
If you donate monthly as a few members do please cancel the donation.
I do not have all members email addresses so please pass the info on to any forum members you know.
Thanks for all your support over the years.
Keep well
Jim

However some information from the Barton site is available via the amazing ‘Wayback machine’ web archive. If you click the link below, you will see some of the Barton site and articles, but it would seem that this does not cover the forum.

Barton Club website archive.

To help the Barton club whilst they decide what to do about the website and forum then we have setup two sub forums within our forum area in the Speedcom website, the link to those are below. You will see them as sub forums of the General Discussion area.

General discussion area – Barton Control Line Speed Forum

We also hosted the 2026 Barton Club contest calendar at the following link. The Barton calendar is the first entry at the top of the page.

About Barrie Lever

I am a committed competition modeller, flying RC pylon since 1978 and additionally control line since 2017, although I had held a latent interest in CL speed for decades. I like to make as much of my competition models myself as is possible, this often involves teaming up with other like minded competitors to share the workload.
