CL speed training day at Buckminster hard circles 26th March

By | February 9, 2022

The promotion efforts of UK control line speed in recent years are having positive effects on participation levels, however there is more to entering a CL speed event than just having a model and coming along to a competition.

One area that makes beginners cautious is being able to fly a fast model in the ‘pylon’ and another is the making off of good quality and safe lines. So it was decided that we would hold a pre season skills and training day at new Buckminster CL Hard circle, this opportunity would then allow for a more wide ranging scope for the event.

We will have some of the best CL speed fliers in the World to give advise on  the following.

  • Flying and how to feel comfortable and safe flying in the pylon.
  • Making off high quality line ends according to best practise for CL Speed.
  • How to setup and construct a take off dolly.
  • Use of the Transitrace timing system.
  • Other CL speed related technical subjects

Additionally the circle will be available to test fly IC and electric speed models (No Pulse Jets allowed to fly at this site) and there will be specialist speed items for sale.

At Buckminster the caged CL hard circle is a short walk from a large indoor hanger (well ventilated), so no matter what the weather is like there will be something to do for new and old speed enthusiasts alike.

Whilst it is by no means essential to book in for the event, a short email to the details below would be nice to allow the organisers to prepare well for the event.

See you on the 26th March.

About Barrie Lever

I am a committed competition modeller, flying RC pylon since 1978 and additionally control line since 2017, although I had held a latent interest in CL speed for decades. I like to make as much of my competition models myself as is possible, this often involves teaming up with other like minded competitors to share the workload.
