Hi Lads - I bunged this post on the FB site too, just to bore you
Can anybody explain to me the design philosophy behind the latest sport and fast jet models? I know that an "upright" engine is not a good idea, because it’s obviously too horizontally asymmetric for the forces experienced, so the best way is to go for the side mounted tube.
But what I fail to get so far is the wing arrangement. I have to admit that I'm completely ignorant here of how these models were actually developed, and no doubt there is a very good reason for everything. Problem is, right now I just can't see it.
Can any of you wiser Boffins elucidate for this poor ignoramus?
