21N update

By | February 21, 2021

Time for an update on the 21N promotion.

We know that five competitors have bought new engines and we know that one potential competitor already has 21 size engines, so this looks promising considering that this is still early days. The 21N promotion is being driven by Dick Hart, Chris Martindale and Barrie Lever with support from Ken Morrisey

Chris has made good progress with the fuselage of the 21N model that will become a plan feature on this website. It is likely that the major wooden parts will also be available to assist new builders.

Barrie has made the first Super Silencer for the prototype model. In the spirit of the ‘Open Source’ nature of this project drawings for this Super Silencer will be hosted on this website once Dick Hart has had a chance to do some bench testing. There will also be pre assembled Super Silencers available for those that do not feel confident in constructing their own version.

Most of the new competitors who have purchased engines have gone for the Force 21 but there are many other engines out there, we received photo’s of a reasonably priced OS21 VG (circa £140) that will be going into a model this year. This looks like a typically neat OS offering. The engine shown has already had the head modified as can be seen.

Remember 21N is not a restricted formula to any of the equipment shown above, you are at liberty to build any model, for example the Dave Smith 21N model of which the plan is featured else on this website would make a good model, just don’t build it with the tuned pipe !! as that is not allowed in 21N.

Lastly Ken Morrisey has got the correct sized lines and I will be doing some speed handles, so everything is coming together.

Any questions then just shout.

About Barrie Lever

I am a committed competition modeller, flying RC pylon since 1978 and additionally control line since 2017, although I had held a latent interest in CL speed for decades. I like to make as much of my competition models myself as is possible, this often involves teaming up with other like minded competitors to share the workload.
