The dates 1st through to 4th September saw the running of the GB/Italian (Coppa D’Oro 59a) combined F2A/F2G World Cup event in Lugo Italy.

This established event forms part of the popular FAI/CIAM F2A World Cup series ( F2 Control Line World Cup | World Air Sports Federation (fai.org) ). The first two days of the meeting are the GB round of the event hosted by the Lugo club and the second two days are the Italian round of the event.

The GB round saw competitors from 5 countries taking part, with Bill Hughes from the USA having travelled the furthest, the Coppa D’Oro 59a  round of the event had 6 countries represented.

These are very credible and consistent performances by all the podium finishers.

F2G (electric power) saw Daniel Rota (Sui) win the GB round with an incredible 308.2 Kph and country man Guy Ducas at 291.9 Kph. The Italian round of F2G was won by Guy Ducas at 300Kph. 2nd was Daniel Rota with 294.3 Kph and 3rd Matthieu Perret (Fra) with 274.6 Kph.

Unofficially the current standing in the World Cup F2A is Paul Eisner 1st with 910.3 Kph, Peter Halman 2nd with 908.7 Kph with Niels Lyme Hansen in 3rd place, it must be said that there are still meetings left that make up this year

As a technical event it would only be right to show some pit photo’s of a Profi F2A engine stripped down for inspection, hopefully we can get more tech photo’s in reports of future meetings.

I like to make as much of my competition models myself as is possible, this often involves teaming up with other like minded competitors to share the workload.
